Stock Sync — Limitations

This page covers the known limitations of stock sync so there are no surprises once it's up and running.

Changing SKUs after connecting

Once your integrations are connected and a product exists on more than one platform, avoid changing its SKU. Changing a SKU after connecting can cause:

  • Duplicate products being created on Palmetrics
  • Stock and cost sync stopping for the affected product
  • The need to disconnect and reconnect the affected integrations to fix things

Takealot DC replenishment stock deductions

If Takealot is not your stock source of truth and you replenish DC stock from your Leadtime (LT) stock using the "Yes, decrease the quantity from My SoH" option on the Seller Portal, that stock will not be automatically deducted on your source of truth. You'll need to manually adjust it there.

You can avoid this by using Takealot as your stock source of truth, since the deduction will already be reflected there.

Returned and cancelled stock

When an order is returned or cancelled, the stock is not automatically added back to your source of truth. This is because Palmetrics can't determine whether the returned stock is still in sellable condition.

You'll need to manually add good stock back to your source of truth. The exception is if your external source of truth platform already handles this automatically for its own returns and cancellations.

Products missing from your source of truth

If a product exists on one of your connected channels but not on your external stock source of truth, its stock level won't be synced. You'll need to manage its stock manually on the platforms where it exists.

TIP

This isn't an issue when using Palmetrics as your source of truth, since all listings from external channels are automatically pulled into Palmetrics. See Using Palmetrics as an Inventory Manager for details.

No negative inventory

Palmetrics does not support negative inventory values. If a negative stock value is read from any channel, it will be set to 0 on Palmetrics and on any other channels receiving stock updates.
