Stock Sync — Prerequisites

Before enabling stock sync, there are a few things worth knowing. This page covers SKU requirements and platform-specific notes so you can get the most out of the feature from day one.

SKU requirements

SKUs must match across platforms

For stock sync to work, the SKU for a product must be identical on every platform it's listed on. If your SKUs don't match before connecting, Palmetrics won't be able to link the listings together.

If you discover a mismatch after connecting, the affected integrations will need to be disconnected and reconnected after correcting the SKUs.

Don't change SKUs after connecting

Once your integrations are connected and a product exists on more than one platform, avoid changing its SKU. Changing a SKU after connecting can cause:

  • Duplicate products being created on Palmetrics
  • Stock and cost sync stopping for the affected product
  • The need to disconnect and reconnect the affected integrations to fix things

Platform-specific notes

Takealot

DC replenishment stock deductions — If Takealot is not your stock source of truth and you replenish DC stock from your Leadtime (LT) stock using the "Yes, decrease the quantity from My SoH" option on the Seller Portal, that stock will not be automatically deducted on your source of truth. You'll need to manually adjust it there.

You can avoid this by using Takealot as your stock source of truth, since the deduction will already be reflected there.

Amazon

FBM/FBA SKU suffixes — If you use prefixes or suffixes to differentiate between FBM and FBA listings (e.g. -FBA, -FBM), let us know what those patterns are when setting up stock sync so we can handle them correctly.

Shopify

Single location only — Palmetrics currently supports a single Shopify location per store. If your store uses multiple locations, you'll need to choose one location to sync stock with.

Multiple stores — You can connect multiple Shopify stores to one Palmetrics account, as long as Shopify is not the stock source of truth. Be aware that any products sharing the same SKU across multiple Shopify stores will be treated as a single product — meaning they'll share the same stock level and price when managed by Palmetrics.

WooCommerce

Single location only — As with Shopify, Palmetrics currently supports a single WooCommerce location per store. If your store uses multiple locations, you'll need to choose one to sync with.

Multiple stores — You can connect multiple WooCommerce stores to one Palmetrics account, as long as WooCommerce is not the stock source of truth. Products with the same SKU across multiple WooCommerce stores will be treated as a single product, sharing the same stock level and price.
